PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
SEDATION

To ensure your visit will be as pleasant as possible, please keep the following in mind:

Before your appointment date:

  • Please complete the registration form and health history, and email them to us or bring them with you to your appointment. Please list all medications and health conditions.
  • Watch the specified video for your surgery all the way to the end so the system confirms it was completed (if applicable).
  • Confirm your appointment. You will receive a call from our office to review instructions and confirm your appointment prior to your appointment day. If we leave a message for you to call our office, please make sure you return our call. Due to a high rate of unconfirmed appointments failing to appear, we do not guarantee unconfirmed appointment times, and they may be given away to other patients with urgent or emergent needs. 48 hours notice is required for appointment cancellations. Feel free to initiate the call to confirm your appointment 2-3 days prior.

On your appointment date:

  • Do not eat or drink anything (not even water) after midnight the night before your surgery or at least 8 hours prior to your surgery if scheduled in the afternoon. Alcoholic beverages should not be consumed 24 hours prior to surgery because they will interfere with anesthesia and hydration. If you take medications, please talk to the doctor or nurse about how and when to take your medications prior to having anesthesia.
  • Wear a short-sleeved shirt, as we routinely monitor your blood pressure and heart rate during all surgical procedures. We would like you to feel as comfortable as possible.
  • Remove all jewelry and piercings prior to arrival and have one fingernail on each hand without nail polish or acrylic fingernails for monitoring your oxygen levels.
  • Please arrive on time for your scheduled appointment, or we may not have the time needed to complete your appointment.
  • Bring a responsible adult to stay with you during the appointment, take you home afterward, and stay with you for at least 24 hours after surgery (parent or legal guardian if under age 18). Anesthesia will not be performed if you do not have someone you know and trust to accompany you to the appointment and that can wait for you in the office with the vehicle on-site during your appointment time. If you are the legal guardian/POA for the patient, please bring a copy of the legal paperwork indicating this to the appointment.
  • Bring photo identification (e.g., driver’s license).
  • Bring medical and dental insurance cards.
  • Prepare for payment as discussed when scheduling the appointment. Payment will be collected prior to surgery.

If you have a WageWorks credit or debit card (for your HSA or FSA account), they do not allow our office to charge these directly. You will need to pay with cash, bank debit, or credit card the day of service and then submit the receipt to them for reimbursement.
